Local Resources

Welcome to my new resources page! This is where I will post local to the Kansas City area resources that I have found and would recommend. Restaurants, local farms, food, markets, and businesses, might all be found here. It will be a continuous work in progress as we explore the city more, try new restaurants, and meet new vendors at the local markets. Enjoy!

Today my Muscle Man took me to Affare German Restaurant. If you are looking for something a little more upscale but still fairly reasonable in price, this is a wonderful place to try. It is located on Main Street just a few blocks from Crown Center and Union Station. As described by our wonderful waiter, Richard, it is a, "Modern twist on traditional German dishes." And oh man was it good! The owner and chef comes from Bonn, Germany where he started his career in his family's restaurant. He uses all natural, seasonal, organic food whenever possible and supports local producers. Farm to Market Bread Company is a block away and we got to try their pretzels as an appetizer. They also support local artists by displaying and making available for sale different pieces throughout the dining room. All in all I was very impressed with the quality of the food, the service and their commitment to supporting other local businesses.
